The lacrimal canaliculi , one on each eyelid, starting with a tiny hole known as punctal (also as punctum tear or lacrimal point ). These holes are located on the edges of thelacrimal papillae , which can be viewed on the margins of the eyelids, the lateral end of the lacrimal lake . There are two puncta in the (internal) medial part of each eye .
They work together as collectors of tears produced by the lacrimal glands . The fluid is conducted into the lacrimal sac and then, via the nasolacrimal duct , to the inside of the nose .
