The anterior segment is the third front of the eye of fish that includes the structures in front of the vitreous humor : the cornea , the iris , the ciliary body and the lens . 1 2

Inside the anterior segment of two spaces filled with liquid:

  • The anterior chamber : between the back surface of the cornea (ie, the corneal endothelium ) and iris.
  • The rear camera : between the iris and the front face of the lens. 1

The aqueous humor fills these spaces within the anterior segment and provides nutrients to surrounding structures.

Some ophthalmologists and optometrists are specialized in the treatment and management of disorders and diseases of the anterior segment. 2
